June is Internet Safety Month so we wanted to highlight an article that takes a deep dive into four of the most popular social media apps that students may be inquiring about or already using. Introducing your child to social media provides useful information about the risks and positive features of these apps. Parents will discover expert advice on how to develop ongoing conversations with children about social media platforms, the risks and benefits for teens with actionable steps on how to keep online safety top of mind.

Calling all scientists! You can use your skills of observation to help track the firefly population this summer.
Spend at least 10 minutes once a week during firefly season (late June through August) observing fireflies in one location (your backyard or in a nearby field). Learn more about what to look for and how to submit observations ➡ https://bit.ly/3zgbKXp.

For those who are unaware, there are a number of wildfires currently burning in Quebec, Canada. The smoke from those fires is drifting south to the United States, causing hazy skies and a decline in air quality.
Since wildfire smoke may pose health concerns to certain populations, the Warren County School District is following the recommendations based on air quality data provided by AirNow, the official U.S. Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI is a color-coded index designed to communicate whether air quality is healthy or unhealthy for you and recommend steps to protect your health.
You may visit AirNow at www.AirNow.gov, enter your zip code, to see what the AQI value is.
The district and its schools will be following the recommendations based on the AQI through the remainder of the school year. Be aware that conditions may be different in different parts of the county.

Fourth Grade photo dump of our chicken hatching success. We welcomed 10 baby chicks into our class a couple weeks ago!
Discovery Walk success for 4th grade yesterday at the Audubon Community Nature Center. Each group got to explore a different trail and see and hear lots of exciting things! Trails are free and open to the public while the museum and activity center do have a small cost to explore. Consider the Audubon when you are planning your summer activities!
Lights out in science today as our 4th graders became miners! They had to use their tools of observation and notes on mineral properties to identify minerals hidden around the cave - I mean, classroom. Great work today scientists!
Please take a moment to complete our school’s PBIS Parent Survey below. The results help us improve our School-wide PBIS practices. This survey should only take a minute to complete. Thank you!
