3rd Grade visited the Woodmobile.
āThe Pennsylvania WoodMobile is a traveling exhibit that provides information on the stateās forest resource and the stateās forest products industry,ā according to PDA.
āVisitors to the exhibit will see how the forests of Pennsylvania have shaped the history of the state and nation, learn how todayās forest differs from 100 years ago, touch the various hardwood species produced in Pennsylvania, and use touchscreen technology to interact with various threats to the forests such as invasive insects and plants, diseases and white-tailed deer.ā

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Lindberg's class celebrated their "Golden Tray" lunch awards by enjoying time outside in the beautiful weather. Great job, Little Wolverines! Keep showing that P.R.I.D.E.!










Kindergarten students wrapped up the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) Unit on Colonial Times by weaving! We had a little assistance from our favorite 5th grade helpers.










Fifth grade celebrated the end of the first week of PSSA testing by experimenting with mixtures and chemical reactions today.










These fifth graders celebrated Earth Day by turning old t-shirts into reusable bags. Reuse, reduce, recycle!

With Earth Day being on Monday, Sheffield Area Elementary School students and staff are encouraged to wear blue, green or an Earth Day shirt to show their support for our planet.

5th grade went outside for science class yesterday. They used ice cubes and dandelions to explore how matter undergoes physical and chemical changes.









SAES students were mesmerized by Professor Steve's Magic of Science show!

EXCITING ECLIPSE!
Weāre still uncovering fun solar eclipse activities that took place around SAES...look for more photos to be added soon! Many classrooms did eclipse-themed crafts that helped students see how the brief alignment of the Earth, moon and sun cause a solar eclipse. Special thanks to our amazing Nutrition Team for Friday's eclipse-themed lunch: rocket dog, moon tots, and eclipse cookies! Trays marked with a special star also received a bag of Sun Chips in celebration of the memorable event.










Eclipse Enthusiasts, Educators, Parents and Students,
A total solar eclipse lesson will be aired on the Penn State Behrend YouTube channel at NOON on Monday, April 8th @ https://www.youtube.com/@PennStateBehrend1/streams featuring their very own Dr. Darren Williams, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics entitled "A Celestial Treat: A Total Solar Eclipse Coming to Erie!" The target audience is upper middle, high school, and college students, but adults and younger children may also enjoy the lesson.

Tomorrow-Wednesday, April 3rd is picture day!

Solar Eclipse Glasses were donated through multiple higher education institutions to WCSD. These will be distributed Wednesday, April 3rd in each building. A letter explaining the solar eclipse and the safe usage of eclipse glasses is located here (https://5il.co/2hcoz) and will be sent home with each student.
The eclipse will occur on April 8th, 2024, which is an Energy Day and students do not have school.
