Dear Parents, Families, and Members of our Sheffield Community,
New for 2024 – 2025: Sheffield Area Elementary School is excited to introduce a new layer of our Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions (PBIS) Program entitled “Community P.R.I.D.E.”
“Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.” – Center on PBIS.
At regular intervals throughout the school day at SAES, teachers and building staff members recognize students for demonstrating the following behaviors on an ongoing basis: thinking positively, being responsible, having integrity, being determined, and striving for excellence (P.R.I.D.E.).
In the upcoming weeks, Mrs. Harris, SAES Principal, will be visiting local Sheffield businesses to share information related to a new the newly added “Community P.R.I.D.E.” initiative. Business, community participants, or SAES coaches who are interested in participating in this initiative will be given pre-printed P.R.I.D.E. tickets that can be issued to students who are recognized for demonstrating P.R.I.D.E. behaviors in their local community. The attached letter further explains the details of the community recognition piece and will be shared by Mrs. Harris upon her visit. This community initiative will add another layer to our well-established Positive Behaviors Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework within our school culture.
In the event you are a business owner/manager or SAES coach, and you are interested in receiving more information about the PBIS Program, please feel free to contact SAES Principal Kylie Harris directly at 814-968-3720 extension 2610 or via email at harrisk@wcsdpa.org.
Information related to the Community P.R.I.D.E. initiative will be shared with parents and students at the onset of the school year.
Thank you for your ongoing support for our students and families!
